Overview
Experience Ladakh/Zanskar Self Drive Tour One of the world’s most magnificent and beautiful landscapes, in its most peaceful season and in total contrast. Perched at a height of 13,154 ft, Zanskar Valley is a semi-arid region nestled in the northern flank of the Great Himalayas. You will experience 4x4,convoy culture, ladakhi culture ,Ancients Monasteries, Traditions, Nomadic Land, Highest Motorable Road, wildlife at this time and high above the tiny mountain villages.
Day Wise Itinerary
The day has finally arrived when we start one of our most adventurous
expeditions. First day will be the orientation and registration day for all
the participants.
Overnight at Manali.
Day 2 – Manali – Jispa
Wake up at leisure in the lap of nature and post breakfast start driving
towards Jispa. Enroute we will cross the world famous Atal tunnel, longest
tunnel above 10,000 feet in the world. Jispa, a beautiful little town in the
Lahaul district of Himachal Pradesh perched on the banks of river Bhaga.

Day 3 – Jispa – Padum
Today, we earnestly begin new journeys, on almost virgin roads, with no
one around for as far as the eye can see. And, beyond! Deep in the tribal
districts of Lahaul Valley, you’ll be engulfed with a sense of awe and a
crystal clear reality of being oh-so-insignificant. Today’s route involved
you crossing the high altitude pass of Shinkula – which clocks in at a
staggering 16580 ft. This is higher than Baralacha la, Lachalung la. So,
brace yourself for some tough conditions. Right after we descend from
Shinkula, the majority of your route will now move next to the Zanskar
river. Before you reach Kargaik, you’ll spot the most beautiful mountain –
known as the Gonbo Ranjon, standing tall and barren – this will be your
absolute favourite mountain in the whole world. One of the most revered
and sacred mountains for the Zanskari folk, it stands alone and mighty.
The drive towards Purne will provide you with unbelievable views.
Overnight in Padum.
DAY 4 – Padum
(EXPLORING PADUM AND CLUSTER OF VILLAGES OF ZANSKAR)
After breakfast, we will drive towards Karsha monastery. Karsha monastery
is the largest and most important monastery of the Zanskar region. After
spending some time at Karsha we will proceed towards Zangla which is
known for being the base or an important point of major treks in Zanskar
region. As attractions, the place has an old castle, which is almost in ruins.
We will also visit stongdey monastery, revered as the second largest
monument in the entire of Zanskar Valley, this pious monastery shares its history with the Tibetan Yogi and Marpas. Later post lunch if time allows we will head towards Sheela village waterfall and back to Padum.

DAY 5 -Padum – Leh
The new road/route from Padum to leh is newly built and breathtaking.
This section of the journey is known as the “untraceable” road, and for
good reason.Immediately after taking a right from Padum towards ̀
Zangla, lies a petrol pump about 4 KMs down. Zangla’s distance from
Padum is about 40 KMs and the road is well made. Post that, you’ll be on
some off-roading journey towards Lingshed and up ahead. Signature views, synonymous with the Zanskar valley keep you company for the day. From Lingshed, we will take the route that goes up towards the Singelapass (16,615 Ft). We will continue our drive to reach Leh by lateevening. Overnight in Leh.
DAY 6 -Leh (Rest day)
A well deserved break is what awaits you, as we use this day to explore Leh
and immense ourselves in local culture. You may visit Leh Palace, perched
atop the deserted Namgyal Hill, the Leh Palace stands as a testimony of
Ladakh’s splendid heritage. You may also visit Shanti Stupa which offers a
remarkable bird’s eye view of the Leh town.
Post sightseeing feel free to visit the local Leh market and experience the
vibe of this lively city.
Overnight in Leh.
DAY 7 – Leh to Hanle Via Puga Valley
After early breakfast we will drive to our next destination Hanle. This is
generally the most preferred route taken to reach the beautiful city of Hanle
in Ladakh. You can cover the scenic places of Mahe, Nyoma and Loma
before reaching Hanle via this route. Some of the popular monasteries such
as Shey, Hemis and Thiksey also lie en route.
This route has the best road conditions as compared to other routes
making it the most popular one. Indian Astronomical Observatory in Hanle
is World’s second largest Observatory.Dinner and overnight stay in Hanle.
DAY 8 – Hanle To Umling La To Tso Moriri
After early breakfast we will drive to Umling La Top World’s Highest
motorable pass at an altitude of 19,300 feet. Tso Moriri is also known as
mountain lake at an altitude of 14386 ft famous for Bird watching and
taking in the beauty of nature. Exploring majestic Tso morrori and doing
astro photography .
Overnight stay at Tso Moriri.
DAY 9 – Tso Moriri To Jispa
After breakfast, begin your ride towards Jispa that will make your journey
filled with adventure and fun. You will also be crossing Kiagar la(17,480 Ft),
Lachung la (15,941 ft), Naki la (15,647 ft) and across the famous More plains
and Gata Loops. We will reach Jispa by evening.
Overnight stay at Jispa.
DAY 10 – Jispa to Manali
Post breakfast, start your journey towards Manali and enjoy the scenic
route. Once you reach Manali this marks the end of your thrilling
expedition.
DAY 11 – Departure
The last day of the expedition is here and its time to head back to your
chosen destination.
